Group lessons on violin are usually for little children in Suzuki classes, and I think some fiddle teachers may teach group. But generally, violin lessons are taken privately. See:

    LESSON FEES
Comprehensive evaluations of private lesson fees (violin, viola, piano), worldwide.

I’d suggest individual lessons, though group lessons more than likely will be cheaper. I’d look for patience in an instructor. For a good individual lesson, I’d expect to pay about $10 per lesson for a half hour or an hour.

i take piano for 1:00 for $32.00 so i think it will be like $40.00. at least $40.00 is not alot.

This varies so much….it depends, private teacher, school, or group lessons….it could cost $20.00 a half hour….up to $50.00 for private lessons….it depends on who and where….why not call different places and see what they charge, good luck to you. I love violin….I’ve always wanted to play, but I went with classical guitar instead, I still say that someday I’m going to give it a try !!!!!!!!! I love Vivaldi concerto’s, and I especially like the “Four Seasons”, by Vivaldi.

It is better to have individual lessons. Look for a teacher with an actual degree in music. The best bet is to call the local university or conservatory and ask if they would have any teachers or know of any teachers for beginners. Try renting a violin first and have your teacher recommend a violin to purchase. $40-$60 an hour for lessons are reasonable rates. $60 and up should be for highly experienced violinists who probably teach at a post-secondary institution.
