One man’s memory sheds light on 100th Anniversary
CLERMONT- In 1910 a businessman, Christian Miller, and his two sons, took a risk in a small town and opened an electric light and power plant. The Northeastern Iowa Power Company, used the old mill first erected by former Governor William Larrabee. One hundred years later, the building remains, and the memory of the ins and outs of this thriving business venture is left to only one man.

BENNY GOODMAN, KING OF SWING, IS DEAD
Benny Goodman, the King of Swing whose clarinet led a generation of music fans into the Big Band era in the 1930′s, died yesterday afternoon at his Manhattan apartment, apparently of a heart attack. He was 77 years old.
