It actually can be complicated. It is very complicated learning violin, but, the more practice you get the more perfect at it you’ll get.
No, its not easy. In spite of what you may think, there are no easy instruments, unless you stick to simple easy music. Guitars for example, are one of the easiest instruments in the world to play really really badly — and one of the most difficult to play really really well.
It can take several months of concentrated practice before you’re able to get a pleasing sound out of the violin — until you get the hang of it, you’re likely to sound like you’re killing cats :-) Then learning to find your way around the fingerboard without frets to guide you, and play consistently in tune is another challenge that can take a long time. Then, if you’re learning classical violin, you can expect to spend years learning the repertoire to an acceptable level of proficiency.
You can probably learn to scratch out a simple fiddle tune well enough for it to be recognizable, in 6 months to a year.
Getting good enough to play in an orchestra, or a chamber group — or a bluegrass band, for that matter — will most likely take years.
Violin- easy? haha. no.
(I agree guitar and piano are pretty easy though)
Honestly, it’s not easy, but if you stick to it, you could do it.
The violin is like those instruments in that it’s a treble instrument; it plays the same notes as written in the top, treble clef, line of the grand staff in piano music. It’s different from the guitar, in that it doesn’t have frets (obviously) and it’s tuned in 5ths, not 4ths (and a 3rd), like the guitar.
A lot of people like the GEWA’s:
