Not only does a violin not have frets like a guitar, but the bowing ability (as opposed to fingers or a pick) must be a WHOLE other skill set. Plus you can't see the violin fretboard like you can a guitar, so you really have to develop the ability to FEEL if you're in the correct position. Violin seems like an impossible instrument to play, but obviously it isn't. Good luck

It seems logical that guitar skills would help, but I doubt it beyond just being used to looking at a fretboard. It's one of the more difficult string instruments with the bowing and fingering and intonation, etc. It takes most people a few years before they can play real fiddle music. If you were really dedicated, and worked at it, you could probably be pretty good. I just started cello last summer after already playing bass, piano, and harp, and I caught on pretty quickly. It's not too hard if you learn to love the music!

Well, it’s easier to play any new instrument when you already have experience reading music rather than start new, but don’t expect violin to be easy. You might be a little bit better, because you can fret better. But handeling that bow, is VERY hard.

Well i really don’t think so.
