Thanks

Pretty much anyone has the potential to play violin.
Of course, since you’re older, it’s certainly going to be harder than if you picked it up as a child. That’s what they say about things like that. Foreign languages, ballet, instruments, etc.

Just be careful not to get frustrated too easily, believe in yourself, and if you plan on getting an instructor…make sure they’re patient and easy to work with. Take it one step at a time, and I’m sure you’ll do fine. As you know, Associating yourself with other violinists will also help greatly. You can ask them questions and get pointers without really feeling too stupid…depending on who they are. I’ve always found that associating myself with peers of a specific instrument helped me greatly. You could also make a few friends from it, too.

Of course you can learn to play, and to play well.
You’ll need an quality instrument, an experienced teacher and a daily practice — the same as any student, whether they are 4, 24 or 64. Be sure to look for a group to play with too — whether it is a college or community orchestra or a fiddle jam. The violin is a social instrument, and loves to get out and about!
