Swallowtail Jig – Please Read Description
I’ve been learning violin on my own, so I put this up just to help me progress in parts that I’m having trouble with. I used to play swallowtail jig on viola, but I havn’t played viola in a while and I don’t have the sheet music, so I was kinda guessing on how it’s played from what I remember. If anyone has the sheet music I would appretiate it if they could send it to me. [ = Also, I am concerned about the way I am holding the violin. I havn’t guite gotten vibrato right due to the fact that I can’t hold onto the violin with my chin and let my arm/hand glide freely. I’m planning on getting a chin rest, but I don’t want to get too used to it. I want to be able to play without one. Any tips?

i think its meant to be on the D string or even the G string.
i dont have the sheat music but i can tell you the fingerings for it how i learned to play it
on your d string you start with 1 finger then 2nd close to first then third
then third finger d string first finger open d then first finger a string then open d (2 times) third first open a first d the rest i cant realy remember without my violin infront of me but google search it your bound to find it and some great music that is quick is irish music or generaly jigs there are absolutely fun

I don’t think it’s bad if you do use a shoulder rest, even the most professional violinists use one, and it’ll help with vibrato :)
