Would It Be Better if I Learned to Play Violin From Private Lessons at School, or Private Lessons After School?

modern.mulan asked:

I mean, which one elevates my chance in joining the my high school orchestra? School lessons are easy, because they work in with my schedule. Private gives me less time to do homework…but then again, once a week? Besides, this teacher lives in my town…

generally if they are a private teacher than they have an extensive knowledge about an instrument and probably were professional with a particular instrument at one point or another. It all has to do with were your priorities are. if school is important than stick with the school but if you want to focus in the violin then go with a private teacher. But if you did have a private teacher your chances would be greater. you would get more individualized teaching and it would show that you have dedication to that instrument which would help.

I play the violin. I have donte private lessons for 7 years. I have also participated in my school teachings. Private lessons are good cause you get one on one with your teacher. But sometimes in school lessons you have other people with you. And believe me, that gets really distracting. But you should do what you think is best. A lesson once a week is fine. I have mine after school

    Hope that helps

There is more variety in teachers after school. Usually, picking a better teacher after school elevates your chance more.
