How many extra activities are your children involved in?

I was at my nephews baseball tournament this past weekend (The children on his team are 5&6 and played 3 games in one day) and I kept over hearing the parents talking about all of these activities that there children are involved in, and after thinking about it I realized that every time I talk to my brother he is constantly dropping one of the kids off at ball, or dance, or gymnastics, or music lessons…. these kids do a million things!!!! So my question is how many activities are your children involved in? What would you say is the average? And how much do you feel is just too much? I am all for over-achievers…. hey do it while you are young… but it just seems like a lot sometimes.

Take the Extra Challenge, Give Extra Effort: Learn How to Play the Violin Effectively

Learning how to play the violin is one of the most satisfying experiences a person can have. This is especially true to those who have long wished that they could learn how to play it. If you are one of those people who want to learn how to play the violin, you can use these guidelines to start:

First, you need the best learning system available for playing violin. It is imperative that you have it so that learning will not be difficult for you. You must also know what learning system best suits you. Learning how to play the violin actually includes more than just buying one. You must also find the right instructional guide to lead you to the way. Find a good teacher to teach you how to play. When I say teacher, it could also mean books or other written, audio or video materials that will show and teach you how to play the violin. You need this teacher to have the best system possible for you to learn. It doesn’t matter if they don’t have any special tricks to show you, all it matters is their ability to convey their knowledge to you.

Second, you need time for practice. It is necessary that you allot time for practice no matter how busy you schedule might be. This is for you to retain all the knowledge and skills in the violin that you have previously learned. It also helps you in improving this skill and polishes it. In practicing, you need to be in the right place to do it. This is because distractions can break the momentum that you have in learning your lessons for the day. Learning anything, especially playing the violin, needs an ample amount of time for practice every single day. What ever your activities are for the day, a time must be set for a practice so you may learn and retain what you have learned in playing the violin. In practicing, you also need the right place for it. You will need a place which is devoid of any distractions so that you can concentrate on the task at hand. Always remember that constant correct practice makes any performance perfect.

Third, you need the right attitude to do it. Remember that playing the violin is no simple task. If it were, everybody would have been a violinist already. So keep in mind that nurturing a talent is also like nurturing a child. You need patience and love to continue.

Lastly, you need to find within yourself the passion to play. This is because; there will be times when you may feel discouraged. Times like this can easily side track you from your original goals. Especially during times when you feel like you are not making any progress at all, quitting will seem like an attractive option. During these times, only the passion that you have for your music and the faith that you have for yourself maybe the only strength that will keep you going.

All these guidelines are useful in your journey through learning the violin, so always remember them. In doing this always remember your first motive of doing it – sheer passion and your love for music.

At last! For people who wants effective, fast, and amazingly simple help to play the violin With just a click on the mouse, you can learn to play violin

What is the hour of extra footage too intense for theaters” on the Happening DVD?

(Please be specific.) I think they’re deleted scenes. I know I saw in a commercial advertising the DVD someone shoving a violin bow down their throat. Are the extra scenes good? Is it worth buying for someone who found the movie to be ok?

Should I take bass guitar lessons or just learn on my own?

Jed asked:

I’m planning on buying a bass guitar so I can play in my friend’s bass. I’ve never really played an instrument except a violin like 5 years ago. I’ve been reading The Complete Idiot’s Guide To: Playing Bass Guitar and the Squier Bass starter pack I’m thinking of getting comes with an instructional dvd. My question is should I pay the extra $70 at Best Buy for 4 lessons, get a teacher (which I really don’t want to do because I’d have to waste money), or learn through books, playing by ear, and looking stuff up online. And yes I know I should learn musical notes instead of tab or both
