A technique to help a learner to find notes on a bass guitar’s fretboard: Illuminate all possible positions of the current note on the fretboard using a miniature data projector. To stabilize the projection, determine the fretboard’s position through image processing and pattern recognition of a real-time webcam image. This is a contribution to ICMC 2009. 6:30pm 9.4.09 At Fretboard Korner The 400 Year Old Ruggeri Violin Francesco Ruggeri, One of the greatest Cremonese violin makers of the 17th Century, crafted this extraordinary classical Italian instrument in 1686. A friend of Fretboard Korner, Jimmy B. brought it in for us to play. He brought his friend Gerard L. with him. Laura Abramoske (violin student) and Marie Fitzgerald (violin teacher) have some fun with the old piece of wood. It appears authentic and the internet indeed does confirm one currently up for auction, starting bid 0000!! Our friend Jimmy had left the rare violin in the store for an hour or so before the ladies showed up for lesson. I almost packed up my bags, my Martin and the Ruggeri and left Fretboard Korner for good! . But alas, tis sad but true I love Fretboard Korner and the people who come here for music.. even more than 0,00. Enjoy Mig

The bass guitar fretboard is one of the pieces of a guitar you have to take care to maintain. As the frets on the guitar are where you are to place your fingers to form the correct chords, this part of the guitar is normally worn. When you play a lot, you will ordinarily end up substitute your strings first, then the frets. Frets are worn down with age and pressure from strings and fingers.
