Spent some time over at the church with Linda’s kidswe played in the nursery and the tubes. Then wewent to walmart for a few hours. Mom got the grocery shopping done, and Linda and me took the kids to the toy aisle. I was looking for a gift for Gabes birth day and Linda’s kids were looking for some toys to spent their money on. We got home about 4, so I had an hour to eat dinner and get ready to go to Christy’s house to watch her twins Bella and Brandon. Linda gave me a quick ride around the block. Mom dropped Olivia off on her way to take heather to violin lessons. Dad came and got us at about 10, and we went home and went to bed.

Now a EFL classroom, but where the few men in the school used to hide – usually the depute and the visiting music staff. I had my violin lessons here.

i treat myself to fresh cut flowers when i can, even if i just buy a stem or two. today i bought two beautiful Gerber daisies, this yellow/pink one, and a solid pink one from a flower stand in the 4th Street Shopping District in Berkeley. I love that place. A girl’s shopping heaven, and artist studios too! I was in the area picking up a violin with my son, Patrick, who is starting back with his violin lessons. so as we headed back towards the freeway down Gilman, I realized where we were, and made a beeline for 4th Street. We checked out a few stores, but 11 yr. old boys are not interested in stores Moms like. I made a mental note to return soon and browse a little longer, sans my son. I need a mommy moment at M.A.C. cosmetics and Anthroplogie.

He was playing his violin on my street-corner, and because of the warm weather, he was in shirt-sleeves; he was dressed more warmly in the cold weather last winter when I photographed him (at this same spot) here and here and here.

This is the continuation of a photo-project that I began in the summer of 2008: a random collection of "interesting" people in a broad stretch of the Upper West Side of Manhattan — between 72nd Street and 104th Street, especially along Broadway and Amsterdam Avenue.

Martin is a young man at my church who can always be found caring teaching and protecting. He plays in the worship band at church and is a solid and inspiring drummer. He spends his free time helping his sisters and teaching music lessons. I have never seen Martin in a bad mood. As a teacher and musician he is looked up to by many but always has his feet firmly on the ground.

Part of my current effort of going through the recent shots I’ve done with the benefit of what I have learned.
