Lessons for Violin

My child has previously learned to play the ukele, organ and recorder by listening to the notes. For some time now she has wanted to play the violin and now she able too, she was told that in order to start playing the violin she would have to first learn the piano. This is not practical where we live so she chose the viola because it has a deeper tone and will be better for her height. I would value some opinions from other people thankyou.

I’ve decided to, over the years, eventually learn to play the flute, piano and guitar.

Would it be better to start by learning the basics of reading music/etc, or just start with an instrument(I’m assuming you learn music reading as well, although not as thoroughly in the beginning)? If the latter, which instrument?

im 18 btw. i tried learning guitar by myself but i eventually gave up. now im planning to take violin lessons since im very interested in it. i also consider learning piano.
