I Want to Teach Myself How to Play the Violin?

I was going to ask my parents if i could rent, or buy a violin for my upcoming birthday. I honestly don’t like taking lessons, even though it would be good to have a teacher. I used to take piano lessons, and i was good for awhile. I currently play clarinet in my school’s band…
Would it be easy for me to teach myself how to play violin? Can somebody tell me from experience?

How Many Years of Piano Lessons Should You Take to Be Considered Advanced/expert?

I’ve been taking piano lessons for 1.5 years, and I have friends who have been taking lessons for 9 years. I am almost done with beginners, and I am playing songs like “Braveheart” by James Horner. I would like to start the violin someday, but I want to be fully advanced in piano first.

Anybody Have Advice for a Troubled Student and His Viusal and Performing Arts Curriculum?

I’m a freshman 9th grader that is about to be part of the second class to ever attend The School of Biotechnology. ince the school is pretty new, I’m guessing that they are still experimenting with their students. The school uses some kind of program called the IB program. I have just found out that in this program there is a visual and performing arts curriculum where it asks students to create and perform something within their freshman year (either in dance, music, theater, or visual art). I am definitely not prepared to create or perform anything at all and it’s safe to say i do not have many skills here. I took piano lessons for a few years many years ago, but I have lost all of that knowledge by now and can not even perform the most basic of songs. Also, I bought a bass guitar about a year ago with the intentions of learning to play it, but I have seldom ever even picked up that guitar. Has anybody else ever been in the same situation as me? Any advice? Anything would appreciated
Also, the performance has to be done outside of school… :(

How Should Teenagers Handle Busy Schedules?

=] asked:

I have a pretty busy schedule. I play violin, piano, take 2 dance classes, take 2 advance courses. I was wondering if anyone has tips on how to handle a busy schedule. Next year it’s going to get even busier. I’m going to take violin and piano lessons and join an orchestra that practices two hours 1 night a week. Next year I’ll also be doing 2 hours of rowing/crew each night. I’ll also be taking 4 or more advanced classes and 1-2 dance classes. I also want to have a life with friends and everything so I need tips/suggestions on how to handle this busy schedule and tips on time management. Thanks!

Would Learning the Violin Make Me as Frustrated?

E.Rigby asked:

I grew up with piano lessons and I wasn’t very good at that, but I want to play the violin. If I didn’t succeed at playing the piano and learning to read the notes, then would it be pointless to try and learn the violin? Is there any good videos that teach you to play the violin?
